My husband and I are absolute believers in the benefits of red light therapy. True story, a few years ago he was suffering with plantar fasciitis. A podiatrist prescribed treatments with red light and my hubby thought it was no better than snake oil. His pain subsided but he attributed that to the ibuprofen he was taking. Then a few months later he read an article that said his favorite golfer was using it successfully for psoriatic arthritis and suddenly he had to buy one! He used it later when his foot pain flared up again and I used it on my painful back, and both of us now remain pain-free, at least on those body parts. We try to travel as much as we can now that we,re retired and really enjoy cruises. I,ve wanted a smaller red light device that we could pack and bring along with us. This one is nearly perfect for our needs. The light surface is a little smaller than the diameter of a golf ball and since areas I may use this on are also rather small, this size is working well. I,m now using it for a trigger finger, a wrist tendonitis, and hip pain, which is probably early arthritis. Hey, ladies, were you aware that this has a wavelength that also helps to build collagen in skin? Such a easy solution to counter the effects of aging! The product I received is a lemon yellow color and strongly resembles my husband,s laser level he keeps in his shop. Not the most attractive but I truly don,t care. It has a battery which cannot be removed, and includes a very long usb charging cable and even a small charge block. Its operation is simple. Press and hold the power (on/off) button to turn it on and view settings on the small screen. Press the power button to select power level, the time button controls the duration of the treatment, and mode switches it from constant to pulsating. After choosing these settings, press the on/off button again briefly to get it working. Easy. The device feels comfortable to hold, the plastic case is completely smooth, and the unit is well balanced and lightweight. It comes with a pair of inexpensive sunglasses but I find that since this unit is small and handheld, I have good control of aim and really don,t need to use them. After charging fully, I,ve used this at max power for 7 twenty-minute sessions and the battery is still at 3 out of 4 bars. That,s impressive! There are some things that could be improved, though:This is listed for use on humans or pets but instructions state to clean it only with a soft dry cloth and use no liquids on it. I would definitely prefer having the ability to clean and disinfect the light surface after using it.There is no indicator to show that the unit is charging. A simple red light would have been nice.If it had a removable battery, then the battery could be carried in hand luggage on flights while the handheld unit could be in checked luggage. With non-removable battery, I,ll have to pack this into carry-on only. I,m imagining going through TSA with this. It looks like some futuristic ray gun from Star Trek. The cord is very long and bulky. Not necessary for cord to be this long. Can it be used while charging? No idea because this isn,t addressed in the instructions. BTW, other than this omission, the instructions are well written and easy to understand. No chinglish" here.Seems pricey to me. At this price, it should include a lightweight carry case to keep the unit, cord and charge block together. (BTW, at a nearby Hobby shop I picked up a zippered case made for storage of a rotary cutter. Its perfect! See pic)Since it is recommended to be placed directly on skin and the surface is totally flat, I can do treatments to my wrist, hand or face at night in the same room when my husband is watching sports... no light bleeds through to disturb his TV viewing.I am very pleased to have this red light therapy device. FIVE stars!!I hope you found this review to be helpful. Thanks for reading!!
